Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk could be looking at a four-year ban from football after the FA charged him with violating its anti-doping rules.

The Ukrainian international was provisionally suspended in December after failing a random drugs test, and he has not played since. He is not even allowed to train with Chelsea.

At the time Mudryk claimed to be in complete shock and said that he had not knowingly taken any banned substance.

To this point the club has supported him and his mental well-being, but that could change if it is proven that he is guilty of deliberately taking an illegal or performance enhancing substance.

In that respect Chelsea have history in this respect. When Romanian star Adrian Mutu was caught taking cocaine in October 2004, he was banned from football for seven months, and then had his contract ripped up.

That ended up going to the Court of Arbitration for Sport which award Chelsea ₤14 million in damages, a judgement later upheld by the European courts.
