Micah Richards linked with surprise Villa recall

Forgotten man Micah Richards could have a future at Aston Villa under new manager Dean Smith.

Once considered one of the brightest talents in the English game, Richards who joined Villa in June 2015, has not played for the senior side since October 2016, with his career blighted by a persistent knee injury.  His prolonged absence from his team saw him fall out with previous manager Steve Bruce, and he had been subject to a special training regime in recent moves.

Now, however, he could still form part of Smith’s plans for the future after he took part in training with the Villa senior squad this week, as reported by The Daily Mirror.

Richards began his senior career with Manchester City, and won both the Premier League and FA Cup with them. However, he lost his place in the team to Pablo Zabaleta, and, after a brief and unsuccessful spell in Italy with Fiorentina, he joined Villa after being released from The Etihad.

He won the last of his 13 England caps six years ago.
