Liverpool and Arsenal lead the hunt for young Sheffield midfielder

According to The Mirror, Liverpool are amongst a host of clubs, which includes Arsenal, West Ham and Newcastle, who are tracking Sheffield United’s midfield star David Brooks.

The 20-year old midfielder only made his debut for United 14 months ago, but has quickly established himself as one of the hottest young prospects in the country playing outside the Premier League, with his recent performance in the Sheffield derby earning him the man of the match award and a series of rave reviews.

The former Manchester City trainee won the Toulon Tournament with England last summer, but recently switched allegiance to Wales, and was rewarded with a call-up to their World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and the Republic of Ireland.

Sheffield United are reluctant to let a player go who they regard as an integral part of their push to win promotion back to the Premier League after 11 years, but a bid of £10 million or more from Liverpool, or one of their other rivals, could prise Brooks away from Bramall Lane.

About Andy Dalziel

Andy is an exiled English football fan living in Cyprus. He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he's not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
