Lampard admits Giroud could leave

The speculation about the future of Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has hotted-up after his manager Frank Lampard, having previously stating he wanted to keep the World Cup winner at Stamford Bridge, finally admitted he could leave.

Speaking after their FA Cup victory over Nottingham Forest on Sunday, where Giroud was an unused sub, Lampard said “If the conditions are that it’s something Oli really wants to do and it works for the club and it works for me and the squad, then it’s something that could happen.”

That news will alert a host of clubs all of whom are monitoring Giroud’s situation, including Premier League rivals Aston Villa, Newcastle United and West Ham, whilst, further afield, Inter Milan are also considering a bid.

The ex-Arsenal man, who is out of contract in the summer, has struggled for game time since Lampard took over as manager at Stamford Bridge, and is keen to move somewhere where he can play regular first-team football to stake a claim in the France squad for Euro 2020.
