Jenkinson linked with Forest move

Carl Jenkinson has been linked with a deadline day move to Nottingham Forest after the Championship club opened negotiations with Arsenal over a transfer for the 27 year-old right back, who is available for just £5 million.

A dyed-in-the-wool Arsenal fan, Jenkinson is the last member of Arsène Wenger’s “British core” of players that all signed new contracts together back in 2012. Now, with Aaron Ramsey, Kieran Gibbs, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Jack Wilshere all having left the club, Jenkinson is set to finally follow them out of the door.

Jenkinson joined Arsenal in 2011 but has never been a first team regular, and has had loan spells at West Ham United and Birmingham City. He made 8 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions, but despite first choice right back Hector Bellerin still making his way back from injury, he is now surplus to requirements at the Emirates, and is free to leave the Gunners.

About Andy Dalziel

Andy is an exiled English football fan living in Cyprus. He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he's not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
