In what has been arguably the most protracted transfer of the summer window, Victor Gyökeres will be flying to London to finalise his move to Arsenal.
Although personal terms have long been agreed and verbal agreement agreed with his club Sporting, negotiations hit a major stumbling block, with the two sides arguing about the add-ons that are part of the fee, in terms of timing and what milestones trigger them.
But now he is due to fly to the UK to put the finishing touches to his long-awaited move.
Mikel Arteta will be a relieved man, although he is also entitled to feel a degree of frustration. He want Gyökeres available for their pre-season tour, but the rest of the squad are already in Singapore and played their first match against AC Milan on Wednesday.
Even if Gyökeres passes his medical in time, he will not be available for their next match, which is also in Singapore, against Newcastle United this weekend.
Potentially then he could be in line to make his debut in the North London derby against Spurs in Hong Kong next week.
