Gunners set to miss out on goalkeeper fee

Arsenal are set to regret not tying goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo to a new contract after allowing him to leave on loan to Wrexham at the start of the season.

Having forced his way into the League Two side, he started 34 of their 44 league games, and played a pivotal role as the Welsh club, owned by the Hollywood duo of Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mcelhenney, won back to back promotions.

Okonkwo is out of contract at the end of the season, which means that he is available on a free.

Already Wrexham, who will be playing in League One next season for the first time in 19 years, have indicated that they would love to make his move permament.

But for the all the wealth of their owners, they may not be able to compete with the string of Championship clubs who now want to sign him, and can offer him a substantial signing-on fee and higher wages into the bargain.
