Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater has moved to Aston Villa on loan.
The 29 year old spent the first half of the season on loan with Burnley, but failed to make an impression at Turf Moor, starting just one Premier League game for the Lancashire club having injured his ankle in an incident outside a Manchester nightclub in September. He also featured in a Carabao Cup defeat to Sunderland.
Now he will be hoping that he can kick-start his faltering career at Villa, a club where Chelsea have strong connections. Former club captain John Terry is assistant manager there to Dean Smith, and Tammy Abraham spent last season on loan there, spearheading their successful promotion challenge.
A Premier League winner with Leicester City, Drinkwater moved to Stamford Bridge in a £35 million move, but he has never made a mark at Stamford Bridge under successive managers, and has only started five Premier League games in that time for the Blues.
