Chelsea ready to sell James

Chelsea are ready to sell their captain Reece James in the summer in a bid to balance their books and avoid sanctions that could include a points deduction next season.

As things stand, the club need to generate close to ₤100 million in pure profit by the end of June to avoid breaching the Premier League’ s profitability and sustainability rules.

And the easiest way to do that is to sell academy graduates where there is no amortised transfer fee to offer the revenue received.

Already it is looking increasingly likely that Conor Gallagher is headed for the Stamford Bridge exit door, and he is likely to be joined by Trevoh Chalabah, and Armando Broja.

James is arguably a player that Chelsea want to keep, but, given his recent injury record and struggles to stay fir this season, the club are now prepared to sanction his departure, with PSG one club reported to be interested in signing the 24 year old.
