According to talkSPORT, Chelsea are ready to sack manager Antonio Conte if they lose to Watford on Monday.
Despite winning the Premiership in his first season at Stamford Bridge, Conte’s relationship with the hierarchy at Chelsea has become increasingly fraught, with him publicly criticising the club’s transfer policy in recent weeks.
On the pitch results have been mixed, and last week’s home defeat to Bournemouth prompted rumours of his imminent dismissal to begin to circulate. Conte has publicly stated his intention to see out the rest of his contract, but he may not get the chance if owner, Roman Abramovich, decides to pull the trigger.
Chelsea reportedly already have a replacement lined-up in the shape of Napoli boss, Maurizio Sarri, and are prepared to pay £7 million in compensation to bring the 59-year old to West London. Napoli are currently leading Serie A, and are chasing their first Scudetto in 28 years. They would be loath to let Sarri leave at this stage, but a £7 million release clause in his contract would leave them with little option if he chose to go.
