Chelsea have been offered the chance to sign Aston Villa goalkeeper and World Cup winner Emiliano Martínez.
The 32 year old could be available for ₤45 million, with Villa looking at having to sell a number of players because of their PSR situation, although the player himself prefers a move to Manchester United.
Martínez spent much of the early part of his career with Arsenal, but never became a first-team regular there. However, since his move to Villa he has become one of the world’s best goalkeepers, and, in addition to that World Cup success in Qatar in 2022, he has also helped Argentina win back-to-back Copa Américas.
He has acquired the reputation for his penalty saving abilities and for his gamesmanship, and he is also highly athletic,
The West London club have been looking for a reliable number one for several years nowm with none of their current options impressing.
