Chelsea are considering hijacking Robert Lewandowski’s move to Barcelona.
The 33 year old is determined to quit Bayern Munich this summer as he seeks a new challenge, and favours a move to Barcelona, although their continued financial difficulties make such a switch difficult.
Meanwhile, new Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is looking for a statement signature to mark the beginning of his tenure, and has already been linked with a move for Cristiano Ronaldo.
Lewandowski, though, is four years younger, and still close to the height of his powers, and with Bayern’s asking price of £42 million and above posing a real challenge for the Spanish club. Chelsea may be ready to step in with an offer of their own.
They have already agreed a deal to sign Raheem Sterling from Manchester City, and. although the transfer is not yet complete, he is joining their pre-season tour of the US.
