Chelsea have submitted a bid to buy defender Mario Gila from Lazio.
However, the two clubs are somewhat apart on price. Chelsea’s initial offer has been ₤30 million, whilst Lazio are looking for close to ₤42 million, in part because they are obliged to pay Real Madrid 50% of any resale amount they get from him. They are looking to rake in as much money as possible as they look to fund their own summer transfer business.
Gila was a youth product of various Spanish clubs, before joining the Real Madrid academy system. He would go on to make two senior appearances for them, before joining Lazio for a fee of ₤5 million in 2022. He subsequently played for the Italian side 81 times.
Gila has also been capped by Spain twice at under-21 level.
