Chelsea are ready to step up their interest in Swiss goalkeeper Gregor Kobel, who currently plays in the Bundesliga for Borussia Dortmund.
Although Robert Sanchez and Filip Jørgensen have shared the minutes this season in the Chelsea goa, neither has convinced enough to suggest they should be the undisputed number one at Stamford Bridge.
And Chelsea are hoping to exploit Dortmund’s current struggles in the Bundesliga. They have dropped to eighth in the table, and, if they fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League, may find it hard to keep hold of some of their best players like Kobel. He played a major role in their run to the final of that competition last season.
Signed from Stuttgart in 2021, the 27 year old is under contract at Dortmund until 2028, and the expectation is that Dortmund may be prepared to listen to offers of around ₤50 million for him.
