Chelsea are the favourites to sign Spanish midfielder Gabriel Veiga this summer.
They were linked with him a year ago, along with Real Madrid and Barcelona, when he was with Celta Vigo, but, instead he opted for a move to the Saudi Pro League, joining al=Ahli.
However, he ha now come to regret that decision, and wants to return to Europe and one of the elite leagues there.
Veiga knows that he will have to take a substantial pay cut from his current wage of ₤205,000 a week, something that he is prepared to do.
And whilst there are a number of clubs interested in him, Chelsea appear to have jumped to the front of the queue by making an initial offer for him of ₤34 million.
Still just 21, Veiga has been capped by Spain at age group level, and will be hoping that playing in Europe again will help further his international ambitions.
