Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemaka could become involved in a unique transfer move ahead of the Club World Cup.
Having been signed from Aston Villa in 2022, he failed to secure a first-team place at Stamford Bridge, and was sent to the German side in January on a six month loan in the hopes of more regular football.
However, he has found it no easier in the Bundesliga, and has made just six league appearances for the German club in the league, all of them off the bench.
Dortmund do have the option to sign him permanently for ₤30 million, but they have no desire to exercise that at the moment. However, given that both clubs are involved in the Club World Cup, there are now negotiations between them to allow Chukwuemaka to remain with the German side for the duration of the tournament. That might take the form of a second loan deal.
