Betis expect Tottenham to make Lo Celso move permanent

Giovani Celso’s parent club, Real Betis, are expecting Tottenham to exercise their option to buy the Argentine midfielder in the January transfer window.

The 23 year old joined Spurs on deadline day from the La Liga side, initially on a season-long loan, but the North London club were given the opportunity to make the move permanent, and now Betis are expecting Spurs to take the option up, not least because there is a significant discount on option if they act in January.

That is because if they choose to exercise the option next month, it will cost them only £27 million, compared to closer to £34 million at the end of the season.

Lo Celso has had a slow start at Spurs, not least because he has been struggling with a persistent hip injury which has restricted him to just three starts. He has also appeared three times as a substitute.  He has also struggled for first-team action since Jose Mourinho was appointed manager, but with the busy festive period looming, he can expect more opportunities.
