Hector Bellerín has joined La Liga side Real Betis on loan for the coming season.

That is after a proposed move to his former club Barcelona fell through, after a swap deal involving Emerson Royal collapsed. The full-back instead has joined Tottenham.

Bellerín was the longest serving player at the Emirates, but he has slipped out of favour in the past year under Mikel Arteta and had not appeared in any of the club’s matches this season.

Moving back to Spain means that he will be paid less than on his current deal with the Gunners, but he wants the move in order to be guaranteed regular first-team football,

He made 238 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions, scoring nine goals, but, once regarded as one of the best young players in his position in the Premier League, the ACL injury he suffered in a league game in January 2019 ruled him out of action for 9 months, and robbed him of a yard of pace.
