Arsenal have a recent history of signing players with Real Sociedad connections.
Manager Mikel Arteta had a brief spell with them as a player, and captain Martin Ødegaard spent time there on loan when with Real Madrid. More recently both Mikel Merino and Martin Zubímendi have been signed from the Spanish club.
And now there are links with another player, winger Takefusa Kubo, who is reported to be unhappy about the current situation of the La Liga side, and their perceived lack of squad depth.
The winger has a release clause of ₤52 million, but the Gunners are prepared to offer ₤39 million. Any potential deal for Kubo, however, is complicated by the fact that Real Madrid hold 50% of the rights in the event of any future sale.
The Gunners believe that the player has both the technical ability and the attributes to adapt to life in the Premier League, and that he can add further energy and dynamism to their squad.
