Arsenal have opened contract talks with Ethan Nwaneri.
The 17 year old, who became the Premier League’s youngest player when he appeared against Brentford two seasons ago, is tipped to go very far in the game, and the Gunners do not want to lsoe him, even if Mikel Arteta insists on carefully managing his minutes.
He has scored three goals in the League Cup this season and opened his Premier League account at Nottingham Forest at the weekend.
Due to his age, Arsenal cannot officially hand him a contract extension until he turns 18 next March.
However, the Gunners want to have an agreement in principle well before that date with a player who would be attractive to teams all across Europe. He is an academy graduate which means that he has already a fan favourite at the Emirates, and their supporters will be desperate for the club to secure his long-term future.
