In recent seasons, Arsenal have made a habit of signing players from Chelsea.
Some of those moves have worked out – Kai Havertz and Noni Madueke are two recent examples – but others have proved a misstep as far as the Gunners are concerned, such as Raheem Sterling’s loan move last season.
But now the boot may be on the other foot, with suggestions Chelsea are considering a move for a player who was a flop at Arsenal.
Nuno Taveres’ time in North London was not a success, and the Portuguese under-21 international spent much of his time on loan, including a spell in Italy with Lazio, who then signed him permanently.
He appears to have rehabilitated his career in Serie A, and is now valued in excess of ₤40 million.
And his form has been such that he has attracted interest from the likes of AC Milan and Juventus, with Chelsea now joining them.
Lazio’s poor start to the season, means that they may be open to selling him in January in order to raise funds to strengthen their squad. However, Chelsea may be taking a risk trying to sign a player who previously struggled with the physical demands of the Premier League.
