Arsenal have begun talks with defender Jurrien Timber over a new deal at the club.
Although he remains under contract under 2028. the Gunners want to reward a player who has become one of the best right-backs in the Premier League. It is recognised that his pay should be amended upwards to reflect his value to the team.
Signed from Ajax in 2023, his time at the Emirates did not start well. He suffered an ACL injury in his first Premier League game against Nottingham Forest and missed almost all of the rest of the season.
But he recovered to make 51 appearances in all competitions during the last campaign, and he is now one of the first name on Mikel Arteta’s team sheet.
Whilst discussions are still at an early stage, there is will on all sides to make this happen, with Timber very happy to extend his stay in North London.
William Saliba recently signed his own contract extension, whilst talks continue with Bukayo Saka over a new deal.
