Chelsea are closing in on the signing of RB Leipzig midfielder Xavi Simons having agreed personal terms with the Dutch international.
The Bundesliga side are looking at a fee of around ₤60 million for Simons, but there have also been suggestions of a swap deal, with Carney Chukwuemeka going the other way.
Simons has spent the past two seasons on loan at the Bundesliga club from Paris Saint-Germain, before that move was made permanent in January this year for an estimated fee of ₤43 million.
Last season, he scored ten goals and provided seven assists in 25 appearances.
Although Chelsea want to finalise the move as soon as possible, they may need to offload several players if they are to match Leipzig’s valuation of him. The inclusion of Chukwuemeka in any deal will help lower the asking price, though, and he already has Bundesliga experience. He spent last season on loan with Borussia Dortmund.
