Chelsea are prepared to pay a penalty not to make Jadon Sancho’s loan move from Manchester United permanent.

When the winger arrived at Stamford Bridge last summer, the deal included an obligation to buy the winger for a fee of ₤25 million.

However, he has had a limited impact for Enzo Maresca’s side this season, scoring just two goals and providing four assists in 24 appearances in all competitions. Despite his side chasing the game, he was substituted in their most recent Premier League match against Arsenal, after another anonymous performance.

Given that they have already agreed to sign winger Geovany Quenda from Sporting, with the teenager expected to move to West London in 2026, Chelsea are having second thoughts about taking on Sancho’s ₤250,000 a week wages.

That also means that they could face a penalty of several million pounds if they go back on their agreement with United, who do not want him back themselves.
