Whilst most Arsenal fans are concentrated on who the club might sign before the January window closes, amidst the talk of a much needed striker arriving at the Emirates, talks are continuing about securing the future of one of their existing stars.
Gabriel Magalhaes has become one of the best centre-backs in Europe, commanding at the back, and a constant threat from set-pieces at the other end.
The ₤27 million they paid Lille for him in 2020 is increasingly looking like a bargain, and now the club want to secure his long-term future. Talks have already begun, and, whilst there has been no agreement as yet, both sides are confident that one can be reached. He is already under contract until 2027, and, despite having his head briefly turned by the prospect of a move to Saudi Arabia before the start of last season, he is committed to the Gunners, helped by the fact that his English has improved considerably during his time in North London.
