Borussia Dortmund are working on a deal to sign Oleksandr Zinchenko from Arsenal, with an initial loan but with an obligation to buy at ₤18 million.

Arsenal paid Manchester City ₤32 million in the summer of 2022, and initially he helped transform Mikel Arteta’s side with his ability to invert into midfield from the left-back role.

But the defensive lapses have mounted-up, whilst injuries have also limited his appearances for the Gunners. He has made just seven Premier League appearances this season, with Riccardo Califiori ad the teenager Myles Lewis-Skelly both ahead of him in the pecking order.

He is reported to being frustrated with his bit-part role at the club, and is desperate to move away from the Emirates to kick-start his career.

Zinchenko’s availability could end Dortmund’s interest in Chelsea left-back Renato Veiga, who they wanted to take on loan only for the West London club to insist on a permanent deal.
