Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga is set to join Bournemouth on loan before the transfer window closes.

He is back at Stamford Bridge after another loan spell to Real Madrid last season.

With Thiebaut Courtois, Kepa was a regular in the first half of the season, but then lost his place to Ukrainian Andriy Lunin. The Spanish club declined the option of making the move permanent.

And with Chelsea already having signed a number of other keepers this summer, he is surplus to requirements under Enzo Maresca.

His current contract is due to expire in 2025, so Chelsea will need to extend his contract first in order to protect their investment.

He was signed from Athletic Bilbao in 2018 for a fee which remains the record sum for an amount paid for a goalkeeper.

Subsequently he has made 163 appearances for the West London club and won four trophies with them, which included the Champions League in 2021.
