Sterling set for Chelsea exit?

Raheem Sterling could be another player forced out of Stamford Bridge this summer, after he was left out of their squad for their opening Premier League fixture against Manchester City.

Before the game, his representatives questioned the decision, and sought clarity about his situation, which has not down well with the club hierarchy.

With already 42 professionals on their books, and potentially more to come before the transfer window opens, there will inevitably be disappointed players every week, given that Premier League teams are only able to name 20 in their squad each weekend.

Now Sterling could find himself in the same category as Ben Chilwell, Trevoh Chalobah and Conor Gallagher, all of whom have been asked to find new clubs.

Sterling still has three years left on his current deal with Chelsea, but given that he is among the highest earners at the club, they probably would not be averse to let him go if a buyer can be found  before the end of next week.
