Ajax are confident that they will be able to sign Aaron Ramsdale on loan before the window closes, despite having a first approach rebuffed by the Gunners.
It is widely assumed that Ramsdale will leave the Emirates one way or another before the end of August, having made it clear that he does not want to spend another season playing second fiddle to David Raya under Mikel Arteta.
There are also a number of Premier League clubs interested in him, among them Southampton, Wolves and Nottingham Forest.
Arsenal and the Dutch club have already been involved in one transfer this summer involving a goalkeeper, with the Gunners buying teenager Tommy Setford from the Eredivisie side.
He is not ready, though, to take Ramsdale’s place in the first-team squad which means that a direct replacement will be needed. Espanyol’s Joan Garcia is the latest name being suggested as a candidate.
