Arteta explains lack of transfer activity

Any Arsenal fans hoping that the club would dip into the transfer market to boost their second half of the season have been left disappointed.

The Gunners were one of a number of Premier League clubs who chose to sat on their hands during the January window, despite Mikel Arteta claiming that their squad was one of the thinnest in the division.

And, although it was suggested that the club was concerned about the need to stay within the League’s profitability and sustainability rules, it appears more than it was not possible to find the type of player they wanted.

With so few deals having been completed compared to previous years, there were very few players of the desired quality available, and the club has decided it is better to wait until the summer.

Most of their rivals are in the same boat, and will make do with their existing squads for the rest of the season.
