Highly rated young Arsenal striker Flo Balogun is set to join Championship side Middlesbrough on loan for the rest of the season.
The 20-year-old was convinced to sign a new contract at the Emirates last summer, but he has found first-team opportunities so far hard to come by, not helped by the fact that the Gunners are not involved in European football this season.
He is a prolific scorer at under-23 level, but now it is widely felt that he needs the experience of playing regular football twice a week against grown men.
Middlesbrough, now managed by former Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder, are pushing for promotion, and they have agreed to pay all of his wages, and pay a fee to his agent as well.
The intention is that he will return to the Emirates in the summer a more battle-hardened player, ready to compete for a place in the first team squad next season.
