Tottenham are ready to negotiate with Benfica over striker Carles Vinicius.
The forward is on a season-long loan at the North London Stadium from the Portuguese club, and scored his first Premier League goal away at Aston Villa on Sunday night, having largely played in the cup competitions up until now.
Vinicius has a £36 million option to buy in his contract, but Tottenham have already made it clear to Benfica they are not willing to pay that for him. However, they are ready to offer up to £17 million to make the deal permanent, and have already begun negotiations to that end.
That is a little more than Benfica paid Napoli for the 25-year-old when they brought him to Portugal in 2019.
Vinicius is pen to the move, believing that, despite his lack of game time so far, that the will have an increasingly important role for his adopted club in the future.
