Liverpool no longer interested in Fekir

Despite stories to the contrary emanating from France, Liverpool are no longer interested in signing Lyon play-maker Nabil Fekir.

The 25-year old French international was so close to joining Liverpool last summer in a transfer deal worth £53 million that he was pictured in a Liverpool shirt, and conducted interviews for the club’s social media channels. However, the deal collapsed at the last minute, when Liverpool raised concerns about Fekir’s history of knee problems. That caused them to seek a second opinion following his initial medical and, in the end, decided not to proceed with the transfer.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has confessed there is an understanding that Fekir will be allowed to leave the club this summer, and reports in France have suggested that Liverpool are still interested in him, with some reports even suggesting a five year contract had been offered to him.

However, that appears to be a negotiating tactic by Lyon to drive up his value because, as far as Liverpool are concerned,  the deal is dead once and for all.
