Senior figures at Manchester United are reported to have made contact with former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino as storm clouds continue to gather at Old Trafford.
They were humiliated 6 -1 at home against Spurs on Sunday, and have gone on to the internatianl break 16th in the Premier League table, having lost their first two home fixtures of a domestic campaign for the first time since the 1986/1987 season.
That prompted a desperate flurry of activity on deadline day on Monday, and they signed four players, including full-back Alex Telles from Porto, and veteran striker Edison Cavani on a free transfer.
Despite this, and a third placed finish last season there is the feeling in some quarters that manager Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer is on borrowed time, and now is the time to replace him with Pochettino, wo has been out of work after being sacked by the North London club last November.
