Chelsea confirm interest in Callum Wilson

Chelsea’s interest in Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson has been confirmed by assistant manager Gianfranco Zola.

The Stamford Bridge club have long been linked with a bid for a new striker in January, with Alvaro Morata mis-firing, and Olivier Giroud on a short-term contract, and now their interest in 26-year old Wilson, who broke through to the England team last month, has been confirmed by Chelsea assistant manager Gianfranco Zola who says “he has a lot of qualities”.

Born in Coventry, Wilson began his career with his home town club as a 17-year old before securing a move to Bournemouth 5 years later. He helped them secure promotion to the Premier League in his first season, and, despite missing large chunks of both the 2015 -2016 campaign and the following season with knee injuries, he has established himself as one of the Premier League’s top marksman.

He has scored 8 goals in 15 Premier League appearances this season and marked his England debut with a goal in their friendly win over the United States at Wembley.
