Aston Villa eye Gary Cahill

Aston Villa are being linked with a move for Chelsea and England defender Gary Cahill.

The 32-year old started last season as club captain at Stamford Bridge but has gradually fallen down the pecking order in West London, and has not started a game yet this season under new manager Maurizio Sarri.

Now, it is reported that Cahill could be set for join Villa on a free transfer next summer when his current contract ends, although they may face competition for his signature from Premier League club Watford.

Cahill is a former Villa academy player, and spent four years as a senior player with the club, before moving to Bolton in 2008 where he really made his name.  He joined Chelsea in a£7 million deal in January 2012, and has since gone on to win a string of honours at the club including two Premier League titles, the FA Cup and League Cup, as well as the Champions League and Europa League.
