Cardiff City want to sign Ethan Ampadu on loan in January.

That is according to The BBC who report remarks made by Cardiff boss Neil Warnock ahead of his side’s visit to Stamford Bridge this weekend, suggesting that Ampadu would benefit from the chance to play regular first-team football with the Bluebirds.

Ampadu, who has just turned 18, first came to prominence when he played for League Two side as a 15-year old. That earned him a high profile move to Chelsea, but like many youngsters as Stamford Bridge, he has struggled for game time, making just 7 appearances for them, mainly in cup competitions.

However, despite this lack of senior experience, he was picked by Ryan Giggs, his international manager, to play for Wales in their recent Nations Cup matches against the Republic of Ireland and Wales, impressing on both occasions.

Warnock said “They should loan him to us. I will be speaking to somebody at Chelsea about one or two things.”
