Liverpool linked with Spanish goalkeeper

Sporting Gijon’s Daniel Martin is the latest goalkeeper linked with a move to Liverpool, as the Anfield side look for a long-term replacement for Lois Karius and Simon Mignolet.

The 19-year old represents Spain at under-20 level, and although he is not seen as an immediate solution to the Merseyside’s club’s goalkeeping problem, they are hoping to groom him to take over the number one slot eventually.

That is according to The Sun who report that the intention is either to loan him out or integrate him into the squad if reserve keeper Danny Ward secures a move away this summer.

Martin is just the latest name in a list of names connected with a move to Liverpool. A move for Roma’s Alisson has been precluded because of the price tag concerned, whilst Burnley’s Nick Pope and Lazio’s Albanian international Thomas Strakosha have also been linked with Jurgen Klopp’s side.
