Watford have completed the permanent signing of winger Gerard Deulofeo from Barcelona as confirmed by the club’s official site,
The 24-year old spent the second half of last season on loan Vicarage Road, but that has now been turned into a permanent deal, with the player signing a 5-year deal with the Hornets, for a fee of around £11.5 million, with a further £3.5 million in bonuses and other add-ons.
He becomes Watford’s second signing of the summer, following the earlier arrival from Stevenage last month of England youth international Ben Wilmot.
Delores is a graduate of Barcelona’s famous youth academy, but when first-team opportunities at the Nou Camp failed to materialise, he was sent on loan to Everton where he was a success under Roberto Martinez. That was made into full-time deal but, when things did not go to plan; he was sent to loan to AC Milan, where his performances were good enough to convince Barcelona to exercise their buy-back clause with Everton.
However, after starting last season in the Barcelona first team, his form tailed off and the Watford move resulted last January.
