Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has returned to football management after being appointed as the new head coach of Saudi Pro League champions Al-Nassr.
The 60-year-old Australian, who was born in Greece, has agreed to a two-year deal with the Riyadh-based club as they prepare for the new season. He replaces experienced Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus, who departed following the conclusion of the previous campaign.
Al-Nassr head into the new season with high expectations after finally reclaiming the Saudi Pro League title in May. Led on the pitch by Cristiano Ronaldo, the club will be looking to build on that success both domestically and in continental competition under their new manager.
For Postecoglou, the appointment marks a swift return to the dugout after a difficult spell in English football. He has been out of management since being dismissed by Nottingham Forest last October, bringing an unexpectedly short 39-day tenure at the club to an end.
Despite that setback, Postecoglou remains one of the most respected coaches in the game thanks to an impressive managerial career that has included success in Australia, Japan, Scotland and England. He earned widespread praise for his attacking style of football and his ability to transform teams wherever he has worked.
One of the highlights of his career came during his time at Tottenham Hotspur, where he guided the North London club to Europa League glory in 2025. The triumph ended a lengthy wait for major silverware and cemented his reputation as a manager capable of delivering success on the biggest stage.
Before his move to Tottenham, Postecoglou enjoyed an outstanding spell at Celtic. During his time in Glasgow, he led the Scottish giants to consecutive Scottish Premiership titles while also winning domestic cup honours. His entertaining brand of football and strong leadership made him a popular figure among supporters.
Since leaving Nottingham Forest, Postecoglou has remained involved in the sport, working as a television pundit for ITV during the FIFA World Cup. His return to coaching with Al-Nassr now presents a fresh opportunity to add to his impressive managerial résumé.
