Reece James has signed a new six year contract with Chelsea.
The 26-year old who came through their youth system, is already the best-paid player at Chelsea on £250,000 a week., but his new deal should see him earn more than that, with indications that it contains an incentive-based structure linked to individual and team performance.
His previous deal was due to expire in 2028, but the new agreement means that the Chelsea captain should spend the prime years of his career as a Chelsea player. Manager Liam Rosenior believes that the club have secured the services of the “best right back in the world” and has promised he will remain skipper as long as he is in charge.
He won the Champions League with Chelsea in 2021 and the UEFA Super Cup that same year, adding the Euriopa Conference League and Club World Cup winners medals to his collection last season.
In fact, there is double celebrations in the James; household, with his sister Lauren also putti gen to paper to sign a new deal with the Chelsea women’s team until 2030.
