Arsenal are among the front-runners to sign Rayan Fofana from French club Lens.
The 19-year old has come through the youth system at Lens – who are mounting a Ligue 1 title challenge this season – and has established himself in the first team this campaign. He has impressed with his movement in the box, pace, and his poacher instincts when it comes to identifying goal-scoring opportunities.
The Gunners regard him as a potential long-term forward option who could complement or eventually succeed some of their current front-line choices.
Arsenal are said to be ready to consider a bid in the £32 million–£40 million range, although that is a lot to play for somebody who has yet to fully realise his potential. His contract runs until 2029, giving Lens strong negotiating leverage.
Chelsea are also consider a move for him, and have extensively scouted him in recent months, part of their strategy of identifying young talent with significant upside when it comes to value.
