Bryan Mbeumo says Manchester United’s confidence is growing steadily following their 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
The Red Devils extended their unbeaten Premier League run to five games after sharing the points in North London. Mbeumo opened the scoring in the 32nd minute, putting United ahead and in control going into the break.
But the second half brought familiar frustration, as United conceded twice and risked throwing away another promising result. A stoppage-time header from Matthijs de Ligt rescued a draw, allowing Erik ten Hag’s side to leave London relieved to have avoided defeat.
Mbeumo Reflects on Tottenham Result
Mbeumo, who looked sharp throughout the first half, made Tottenham pay for slack defending by converting Amad’s precise cross to net his sixth goal of the season. The Cameroon forward was unmarked in the box and calmly slotted home to give United the early advantage.
Despite fans feeling the team should have claimed all three points, Mbeumo struck a positive tone after the match. Speaking to TNT Sports, he said:
“That was a big drama, but at the end we managed to come back into the game,” Mbeumo said.
Now unbeaten in five, Mbeumo believes the result reflects the team’s growing self-belief.
“It builds confidence when we don’t lose,” he added.
“It’s always easier on the pitch and training ground, so everyone is enjoying a lot. We are going to try to build this [unbeaten run] as long as possible.”
Among the Premier League’s Elite
The 2025 season has been a standout year for Mbeumo. After leading Brentford’s attack last campaign, his transfer to Manchester United has marked a new chapter of success. In October, he was named Premier League Player of the Month, capping off an impressive start to life at Old Trafford.
In terms of attacking contributions this year, Mbeumo is keeping pace with the very best:
- Erling Haaland – 24
- Mohamed Salah – 23
- Bryan Mbeumo – 21
Five of those have come in a United shirt, and with his current form, more goals and assists seem inevitable before the season ends.
