Arsenal have maintained their interest in Sevilla midfielder Lucas Agoume.
The 23-year-old French youth international was linked with a move to the Premier League in the summer, but nothing materialised in the end, although Brighton were among the clubs considering him.
However, the Gunners are now weighing up an approach for him in the January window, believing that he could offer them more depth, especially given his ability to play in multiple positions, a quality always appreciated by Mikel Arteta.
He has a £17 million price tag currently, but given Sevilla’s current financial issues, they may be open to a cut-price sale.
Agoume has drawn comparisons with former Chelsea star N’Golo Kanté because of his tenacity in midfield and high pressing ability.
And whilst at Brighton he would be a guaranteed starter, Agoume may find the prospect of playing in the Champions League with a side expected to challenge for trophies too alluring to resist
