Casemiro is reportedly preparing to call time on his Manchester United career, despite still having nine months left on his deal, plus an option for an additional year.
According to Strettynews, citing Trivela, the midfielder has made a “final decision” about his future after months of consideration.
The 32-year-old intends to remain at Old Trafford until June 2026, bringing an end to what will be four years with the Red Devils. He joined United in August 2022 from Real Madrid for £70 million, with the club viewing him as a key signing under Erik ten Hag.
During his debut season, Casemiro quickly became a fan favourite. He added much-needed steel and experience to United’s midfield and played a pivotal role in the club’s Carabao Cup triumph in 2023 — their first trophy in six years.
His leadership qualities, work rate, and knack for delivering in big matches earned him plenty of praise, and he was widely regarded as one of the team’s most consistent performers.
However, his influence has waned since Ruben Amorim’s arrival last November. Casemiro has often found himself on the bench, featuring as an unused substitute on 17 occasions under the Portuguese boss. Despite that, he started six of United’s last seven Premier League fixtures and continues to be valued for his experience.
At 33, Casemiro is now thinking about his next challenge. While his time in England has not been without difficulties, he has shown flashes of the world-class quality that made him a five-time Champions League winner with Real Madrid.
From January, the Brazilian will be free to negotiate a pre-contract with clubs abroad, and a switch to the Saudi Pro League — where he could reunite with Cristiano Ronaldo — has already been touted as a possible destination.
