Chelsea are hoping to sell Raheem Sterling this summer for ₤20 million.
The former England international has returned to training with the West London club after his loan spell at Arsenal ended.
Although he made 28 appearances in all, many of those were from the bench and he managed just one goal, and that was in an EFL Cup tie against League One Bolton Wanderers. He also showed signs of having lost a yard of pace and was unable to dribble past players any more, one of his previous strengths.
He is now training with the unwanted “bomb Squad” under Enzo Maresca, as he waits for his future to be sorted out.
Sterling still has two years left on his current contract, and his wages of ₤325,000 a week remain a stumbling block for any potential club. Chelsea had to partially subsidise his time at the Emirates.
Given how his stock has fallen, Chelsea’s valuation would appear on the high side.
