Bayern Munich are set to compete with Chelsea for Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens are and are prepared to offer ₤55 million for him.
Chelsea had been in discussions with Gittens about a transfer prior to the Club World Cup, but were unable to get a deal agreed in time for the tournament. But, having already agreed personal terms with the player, were expected to present Dortmund with improved terms at its conclusion.
With both teams playing in the competition, officials are expected to continue negotiations behind the scenes.
However, the delay has given Bayern an opening to make thei r move. They are looking for a replacement for Leroy Sané who has moved to Galatasaray in Turkey as a free agent, having turned down the offer of a contract extension at the Allianz Arena.
Bayern sporting director Max Eberl is reported already to have made contact with Gittens in a bid to try and get him to change his mind about his next club.
