Italian under-21 midfielder Cesare Casadei is close to agreeing a deal that will see him leave Chelsea on loan in the January window.
For Casadei, like so many at Stamford Bridge, it has been a familiar story, as he has struggled for game time in what remains a bloated squad at Stamford Bridge.
Since joining the club in 2022 he has made only 16 appearances for the club, and manager Enzo Maresca has not shown any inclination to use him.
He has spent loan spells during his time in England in the Championship with Reading and Leicester City, but his most likely destination in January will see him return to Italy. He was signed from Inter Milan’s youth system.
He will be hoping to revive a career that saw him once hailed as once of the most exciting players in Europe in his age bracket, and has seen him play for Italy in every age group up until under 21 level.
