Mikel Arteta has shown a liking for signing former Manchester City players during his time as Arsenal manager.
Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko were both bought from the club he used to serve as Pep Guardiola’s assistant, and Raheem Sterling is currently spending the season on loan at the Emirates.
And now comes news that he may be targeting another in the January window in the former of Leroy Sané.
The 28 year old currently plays for Bayern Munich, but his contract expires at the end of the season, and, although there have been discussions about an extension, no agreement has been reached as yet.
Given his prior Premier League experience, Sané would need little adaption time at the Emirates, but Bayern are unlikely to allow him to leave without going someway to meeting his salary expectations.
Suggestions also linking him to Newcastle United are wide of the mark because they cannot offer him Champions League football.
