Last year, Chelsea pulled off one of the transfer coups of the summer, when they bought Cole Palmer from Manchester City.
He would go on to become the club’s leading goalscorer, finishing the season with 27 goals and 15 assists to his name after making 48 appearances in all competitions.
And now they could be ready to return to the Etihad in a bid to sign another City academy graduate in the shape of James McAtee.
The 21 year old has already had a taste of Premier League football, having spent last season on loan at Sheffield United.
A number of other clubs in top European leagues are also reported to be interested in the 21 year old.
City may, however, be willing to give McAtee some first-team opportunities next season and, even if they are not, may not be willing to sell him to Chelsea.
Palmer is very much one that got away as far as they are concerned.
